Some of the Haworthia emelyaes from south of Oudtshoorn  are quite beautiful.  This is the area where Haworthia picta was first discovered, picta means painted, because of the colorful markings that grace its upper leaf surfaces. These markings vary from pink to white to silver, shades of brown, and gray.   The population discovered by Gerhard Marx that this plant came from is today considered the most attractive Haworthia emelyae of the picta form.  This particular plant is still quite young, so it hasn't given up all its potential beauty yet.

The area where this plant grows has rainfall mostly in the spring and fall.  The hot  mid summer period is when this Haworthia will become dormant.  Hold off heavy watering at that time to avoid root loss.
